The Caterpillar range of crawling excavators is very comprehensive. However, a growing number of customers are asking for less expensive construction machinery. This has prompted Caterpillar to introduce their brand new 313F L GC as an alternative to its existing 312E.

15.03.2015 - Malaga/Spain. The Caterpillar range of crawling excavators is very comprehensive. However, a growing number of customers are asking for less expensive construction machinery. This has prompted Caterpillar to introduce their brand new 313F L GC as an alternative to its existing 312E. Both excavators compete in the same 12 to 14 tons size class. However, the target sector is very different, says Caterpillar.

The 313F L GC features a new design which has a sleekly contoured 2.7 ton counterweight for precision balance. Caterpillar also offers different track shoes and blade options to tailor the machine for specific applications. The excavator is powered by a Cat C3.4B engine with a power rating of 52 kW. The four-cylinder turbo engine powers the hydraulic system with a flow rate of 240 liters per minute. The engine, with its diesel particulate filter, meets Stage IIIB emission standards. To reduce fuel consumption, cost-conscious owners may change from high power mode to economy mode. Another cost-reducing feature is the engine idle shutdown, which stops the engine automatically and the idling interval can be pre-set. The differences between the 313F L GC and the 312E are subtle but significant.

To reduce operating costs, the 313F L GC has many new features to make serviceability and maintenance as easy and cost-effective as possible. For example, the service hatches provide plenty of access to cooling, pump and engine compartments and a pilot manifold, in the valve block, eliminates any need for an additional pilot pump, filter or lines. All this makes the new 313F L GC not only attractive for purchase, but also for the steadily growing rental market.
